Re: B6 Toxicity

300 mg is too much B6. I do list 150 as an upper limit in the book but, based on the new safety data, I have since revised my recommendation to 30 to 60 mg and only during the luteal phase. See my vitamin B6 blog post.

Re: Question about an image 1 in your book

It's a very schematic image of the 400 menstrual cycles and their luteal phases (i.e. the only time we make progesterone) -- so with healthy reproductive years, we make progesterone only about half the time. Plus during pregnancy, when we make an astronomical amount of progesterone.

Re: Migraines!

Day 1 or 2 migraines are still part of the premenstrual migraines that I discuss in this blog post: Natural Treatment of Menstrual Migraines and in Chapter 7 of Hormone Repair Manual . They can respond to gluten-free, magnesium, taurine etc. (one f my favourite taurines is the now brand powder -- 3/...

Re: Long periods with no discernible cause

One next step is to track temperatures to see if you are indeed ovulating every cycle. Because long bleeds can be a sign of anovulatory cycles. Then treatment will depend on the cause of anovulation. If it's PCOS, cyclic progesterone therapy (using oral micronised progesterone, or natural progestero...

Re: Perimenopausal symptoms on the pill

Testing for thyroid, including thyroid antibodies, is a good first step, and you can do that while still on the pill. On the perimenopause side of things, see the "Cycle while you can" chapter in hormone repair manual. This could be a good opportunity to try to have natural menstrual cycle...

Re: Using natural progesterone for endometriosis

As I describe in my endometriosis podcast episode, the main treatment for endometriosis is immune treatment, not hormonal. Once immune treatment is in place, Prometrium can usually have more of an effect.

Re: Endometriosis and Progesterone resistance

The progesterone resistance of endometriosis is because endometriosis lesions have a reduced number of progesterone receptors compared to normal endometrial tissue. Neither progesterone nor progestins can entirely get around this problem, which is why the main treatment for endo is immune treatment,...

Re: Endo cyst - surgery or progesterone treatment?

Thanks for sharing your story. Just to confirm, when you say, "last year in January there was nothing," do you mean you had an ultrasound then? with no endometriomas? If so, it is odd that they would develop so quickly, especially during a time when you were feeling better with your other ...

Re: Periactin

Prometrium might help the migraines, in which case you might be able to stop the antihistamine. And yes, you can stay on the antihistamine while you try prometrium.
