I am interested in finding out more about Uterine fibroid embolisation for treatment for fibroids (mainly submucosal fibroids) to reduce heavy bleeding. I am mainly interested in finding out about long-term research on the plastic that is used in this procedure and whether it is safe.

Thankyou

Hi Fijay

I'm also looking into this approach as an alternative to the hysterectomy that keeps being offered to me. How did you get on? Did you find any more info or did you decide to go ahead with the Fibroid embolism? I've only just joined this forum as I look into alternatives. I have 2 fibroids, one is submucosal and I've had menhorragia for years now. I'm still perimenopausal at 51 and I'm about to have an iron infusion (2nd time) as I'm anaemic. So really fed up but not wanting major surgery!

I see you didn't get any responses, so thought I'd reach out and see how you are doing 6 months on from your post.
All the best!

I discuss fibroid embolization in my book Hormone Repair Manual. In general, I think it is a good option. As far as I know, the materials used in the beads are non-toxic.
