Berberine is improving acne, does that point towards insulin-resistant PCOS?

Post by TooCool88 »

I went off the pill (Kelnor) about two months ago. I’ve yet to get my period but hormonal cystic acne came popping up three weeks into being off it. My skin overall was super inflamed and oily.

After reading some of Dr. Briden’s book, I started taking berberine (1500mg, 5 days on, 2 days off) and within the first five days my acne began improving and I haven’t gotten any new spots.

I don’t currently have health insurance (soon!) so I’m unable to get my hormones checked. I’m wondering though if because berberine is improving my acne so rapidly, it’s because I have insulin-resistant PCOS. I also haven’t gotten my period, though I know it can take a few months when coming off hormonal BC.

Just looking for insight.
