Daily vs Cyclic Progesterone

Post by flapar »

Hi Lara,

I've been prescribed Prometrium to lighten my periods: 100mg at bed time daily from day 1 to 25 of period.

Yours and Prof. Prior's recommendation, however, is a higher dose (300mg from day 14 to 27) cyclically.

I am wondering if it is OK to change from daily to cyclical? This is my first month taking the capsules and I am on day 14, so just wondering if it's OK to take 300mg from now until day 27 (having taken 100mg from day 1).

Need and benefits of daily vs cyclic progesterone are a bit confusing. I am 50 and, I hope (!!), in late perimenopause (skipping periods, very heavy flow).

Many thanks,
Flavia
