Hair loss used to be something that women suffered occasionally after childbirth or illness. It is now so common that doctors see it every day.

Natural Progesterone Is a Safer Kind of HRT

natural progesterone

Natural progesterone fared well in the new KEEPS study. It proved to be effective for menopausal symptoms, but without the risks of conventional HRT.

When I first started practicing in the 1990s, many of my patients needed a way off the nasty HRT duo of Premarin (horse estrone) and Provera (medroxyprogesterone). Antibiotics: Disaster for Hormones

prescriptionAccording to a 2011 study in Nature, antibiotics disrupt the metabolic hormones leptin and ghrelin. That effect lasts for at least one year and results in significant weight gain. Antibiotics promote thyroid disease, menstrual disorders, and estrogen dominance. Even a few courses of antibiotics can increase the risk of breast cancer by 150 percent.

Antibiotics are a life-saving miracle, but they’re also not great for our hormonal system. Why? Because they disrupt our healthy gut bacteria.

Why? Because hormonal birth control profoundly disrupts hormone balance. It causes weight gain, depression, bladder infections, and abnormal PAP tests. The Pill suppresses the body’s own hormones and kills libido. To state it plainly, the Pill is chemical castration.

And yet the idea that the Pill can be used to balance hormones is entrenched with many patients and doctors. The Pill’s hormone-like drugs are not the same as the body’s own hormones.
